Fuerteventura exhibits its products at Madrid Fusión 2020, one of the main gastronomic showcases in Spain.
Go under the “Tasting Fuerteventura” brand with the support of the Tourist Board, the municipalities of Puerto del Rosario, Antigua, La Oliva and Pájara along with Maxorata Cheese, Tindaya Cheese, Padilla Supermarkets-Spar, El Rinconcito de Juanita restaurant, Toro Beach Restaurant and the Mahoh Rural Hotel.
The island is presented in this culinary forum as a top-level gastronomic destination. After attending for the first time last year, Fuerteventura repeats experience in Madrid Fusión, one of the most important gastronomic fairs in Europe. Through the brand Tasting Fuerteventura and under the slogan “The taste of paradise”, the island puts in value the wine, cheese, jam or oil, products with denomination of origin which it hopes to conquer chefs from around the world .
Madrid Fusión, which takes place from January 13 to 15 in the Ifema pavilion, is one of the most important gastronomic showcases in Spain. Fuerteventura will travel next week to Madrid with the aim of making the majorero products known and enhancing its value as a first level ingredient for avant-garde cuisine.
Another objective of Fuerteventura in this forum will be to promote the island as a gastronomic destination, a complement to the sun and beach tourism that every year protects millions of tourists.
Fuerteventura comes to this forum by the Tourist Board of the island and the municipalities of Puerto del Rosario, Antigua, Pájara and La Oliva. Also thanks to the collaboration of Quesos Maxorata, a majorera company that has made the international leap, with multiple awards such as the World Cheese Awards 2019; Quesos Tindaya, a family business that maintains the good work of the cheesemakers adapted to a new generation of producers who have produced a creamy cheese with great flavor; Padilla Supermercados-Spar, faithful to its commitment to Fuerteventura; Juanita’s El Rinconcito restaurant, in Puerto del Rosario, the Mahoh Rural Hotel, in Villaverde and Toro Beach Restaurant, in Corralejo.
The island has opted in recent years to incorporate the rich island gastronomy represented in restaurants faithful to traditional cuisine along with others that are committed to cutting edge and innovation without giving up the local product as an ingredient.
Madrid Fusión managed in the municipalities of Fuerteventura to publicize the work that local producers perform on the island. In this way, the City Council of Pájara will carry out, until the capital of Spain, Quesos de la Ganadería La Pared, awarded in 2019 with the Best Canarian Cheese award, in the “La Pastorcita” sheep mode. In addition, it will exhibit the olives that are produced in the municipality thanks to the plantation of olive trees in the area.
For its part, the municipality of Antigua also approached the fair “El esparragal”, awarded in 2019 as Best Canary Oil. Antigua’s offer in Madrid Fusión is completed with spirulina, a kind of algae highly prized in the world of nutrition for its properties to the cellulose caregiver and containing a high amount of vitamins. Spirulina has found in the town of Agua de Bueyes, an ideal place for its cultivation.
Goat’s milk is the protagonist of the Puerto del Rosario offer. Through this liquid, producers of the capital municipality have managed to create goat’s milk jelly beans and also goat’s milk liquor. In Madrid they will also announce La Jaira beer, produced in Fuerteventura.
The northern municipality of La Oliva includes in its offer the wines of the Conatvs winery, recognized last year with the Silver Bachus Medal in the XVII International Wine Contest of the Spanish Tasters Union, held in Madrid. It will also present the Ruffin Marmalades, a product where tradition and innovation are mixed.
